     The Lord called J. Richard Bergan on March 17,2010 in Sarasota, Florida. Born the eldest son of Martin and Grace Butler Bergan on January 13,1927 in Auburn, N.Y. Dick and his younger brother Peter (Nancy) attended Holy Family grade school and high school in Auburn, N.Y. Dick was a Life Boy Scout and an accomplished athlete.

After serving in the U.S. Navy in W.W.II, He married his childhood sweetheart, Eileen Brennan until her death in 1982. He briefly attended St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y. Dick and Eileen had and raised five children in the Fulton area where Dick was active in various organizations including Knights of Columbus, The Elks, Rotary International V.F.W. He was the Honorary chairman of the Oswego County 1990 National Census only to name a few. Dick was a devout communicant of The Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton.

In 1962 Dick incorporated as Bergan`s Mens Shop, Inc. and started a life long journey in the Clothing business venturing into Mens and at times Ladies apparel in the central New York area, including Jean City at Northern Lights Shopping Center, North Syracuse, N.Y., Bergan Brothers Clothing in Downtown Syracuse, N.Y, Which is busy and vibrant today. Bergan`s at The Camillus Mall in Camillus N.Y. and various other operations.

In 1988 Dick married Constance (Connie) Boutwell, the second love of his life and welcomed her two sons Kevin (Laura) Boutwell, and Mark (Grace) Boutwell into his family.

Dick and Connie have resided in Sarasota, Florida after his retirement and until his passing. Dick was a natural Floridian enjoying golf and all the activities available. Dick and Connie grew a wonderful group of friends and enjoyed each others company often. Dick was a devout Roman Catholic and served as and usher at The Church of The Incarnation in Sarasota, Florida.

Surviving Dick`s legacy include his present wife Connie Boutwell Bergan, his deceased wife Eileen Brennan Bergan, brother Peter (Nancy) Bergan, Auburn, N.Y., sons David Bergan of Syracuse N.Y., Mark (Mary) Bergan of Jacksonville, Fla., Mike (Diane( Bergan of Manilus, N.Y., Daughters, Sue Bergan-Kesterke (Don) of Fulton, N.Y., Joan Bergan-LaRock (Mike) of Hannibal, N.Y.,Sons, Kevin (Laura) Boutwell of Baldwinsville ,N.Y., Mark (Grace) Boutwell of Dallas, Texas, and 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Dick would say the lord has blessed me with two beautiful women who love me! and has chosen to be creamenated and distributing his ashes with his first wife Eileen and his present wife, Connie. Internment with his wife Eileen will be at St. Mary`s Cemetery in Fulton, N.Y. a date has yet to be set. The other half of his remains will stay with his second wife Connie be interned at her request.

A Central New York Memorial Service is in the planning.
